Recent Artworks

I started drawing birds when I was about seven years old, just pencil sketches at first, then starting with watercolors. After experimenting with acrylics, I settled on gouache (opaque watercolor) for detailed illustrations. Recently I've done some larger works in oils, going for effects with light and shadows.

I've been fortunate to have my paintings accepted four times into the prestigious (and highly competitive) "Birds in Art" exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin. One of those times was for the 50th anniversary of this exhibition, and I wrote an article about it for Audubon. A link to the museum's website is here.

Several years ago I joined the Society of Animal Artists, and my bird paintings have been accepted twice into their annual "Art and the Animal" exhibition. In 2026 I was honored to be promoted to the level of Signature Member of that fine organization.
